Codemasters Announce F1 2012, Coming In September

The 2012 Formula 1 season is just away to begin, and with Sky buying the rights to show the racing fans are in desperate need of some good news, something which Codemasters are only too happy to deliver as they’ve today announced that the next game in their F1 series, imaginatively titled F1 2012, will be releasing in September of this year for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

Along with the announcement of the games release came some small details on a brand new feature being introduced to the series called the Young Driver Test:  “Players will be introduced to the world of FORMULA ONE through a range of tutorials explaining how to handle racing’s most exciting and responsive cars, and challenged to earn a drive from a team for the 2012 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP” the press release happily proclaimed. To celebrate this new feature they released the above video, so go give that a look. Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

Back? Good. The press release also promises a “host of new features,” as well as major technical and gameplay advancements, along with extensive multiplayer and co-op components.

Exactly what more Codemasters can actually add to the series to make another iteration purchase worthy is debatable, but provided they manage to finally deliver on their concept of feeling like your living the life of a racing driver, add in some post-race animations animations, tweak the handling a little and update the graphics then fans will likely be happy. We’ll just have to wait and see what Codemasters have in store.

As long as I get to punt a certain two Germans off the track, I’m a happy bunny.
