Ubisoft Announce Raven Strike DLC For Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Promises Old School Ghost Recon Gameplay

Ubisoft have today turned off their optical camaflouge and revealed a brand new chunk of DLC for their latest entry in the Ghost Recon series, Future Soldier. Of course we were all perfectly aware that Ubisoft have plans to support the game with DLC, but what’s interesting about this new pack is that they’re touting it as, “A throwback to traditional Ghost Recon gameplay, Raven Strike features larger maps, complex missions and an increased level of difficulty”. Obviously they’re aiming for some nostalgic loving from long-time fans of the franchise with this one, then.

The new pack will apparently feature a total of three new campaign maps for you to tackle by yourself or with buddies and a new Guerilla map to play on as well. Here’s the full rundown from the press release, which was found sneaking through Kazakhstan with a highly modified MP5. Okay, maybe it wasn’t, but here’s the details anyway:

3 new missions in Campaign Mode
·         Secure Dawn: a foggy marsh in Kazakhstan where the Ghosts will not be allowed access to advanced technology (no optical camouflage, drone or sensor grenade)
·         Cold Walker: a train depot on the Russian countryside
·         Argent Thunder: a nighttime urban setting in Moscow

1 new map in Guerrilla Mode
·         Sawmill: face 50 waves of enemies on a foggy Russian countryside

A return to the original style of Ghost Recon gameplay is certainly an enticing prospect, but what isn’t so enticing is the pricing of this package:  1200MSP on Xbox Live or £11.99 on PSN. That much for just three campaign maps and a Guerilla map? All I can say is they better be bloody good maps for that price.

The Raven Strike package will be available to download on September 11th, 2012, for Xbox 360 and September 12th, 2012, for Playstation 3.

About Baden Ronie

I always hate writing about myself, it's such a pain in the ass to know where I should start. I'm twenty years young and love to play, as you may have already guessed. When WolfsGamingBlog.com started up it was simply because I found writing to be a good form of stress relief for when my Cystic Fibrosis was getting me down or simply because I had been having a bad week. When I started writing I never dreamed that people would actually read it, or that it would ever get this big. It's mind boggling. My writing isn't the best, but through trial, error and the comments of readers I strive to improve it so I can provide fair reviews. My ultimate goal is to prove that not everyone in the gaming media are corrupt idiots intent on delivering false reviews. Other than that I'm a fully qualified lifeguard and used to teach first-aid and life-saving skills to kids. What more is there to say? Hmmm, well I love music, reading and films. I'm a drummer, enjoy going swimming and tend to get distracted by shiny objects.
