Gearbox have just announced their plans to release HD remakes of both the original Homeworld and its sequel, Homeworld 2. In addition to that Gearbox are also planning on releasing the games in their original, unaltered forms digitally for gamers to download and enjoy.
Currently there’s no news on release dates or pricing for either the HD remakes or the original games, but Randy Pitchford has stated that there’s currently a small team working on the project.
Gearbox acquired the rights to the Homeworld series from the fallen THQ back in April. Presumably at some point we can expect to see a Homeworld 3, with these remakes simply aimed to reimburse some of the money Gearbox spent to gain the rights to the franchise.
