A slip up on Konami’s official UK page accidentally revealed that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will both be coming to PC via Steam at some point. This accidental reveal occured merely half an hour before Konami’s Gamescom conference, where the official announcement has now been made.

The article in question briefly contained information that both games would arrive on Steam, but was quickly amended.

However, Hideo Kojima himself has now announced during the Gamescom livestream that both The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes will be available via Steam. No release dates were announced, but he did confirm that Ground Zeroes would be available first, followed by The Phantom Pain.

Back in March Kojima hinted at the possibility of a PC release. “PC, that’s my original background. I originally created PC games,” Kojima said at the time. “A long time ago I didn’t want to rely on platforms to release games, so if people want it, I cannot make a formal announcement, but that is definitely something that I would like to do.”

It’s good to see the latest entry in the legendary series will arrive on PCs as well as console.
