During the Xbox Games Showcase, we were treated to in-game footage of Forza Motorsport before finally being given a definitive release date: October 10th 2023. That puts it alongside quite a few other big games, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and a new Assassin’s Creed.

“Out-build the competition in the all-new career. Race your friends in multiplayer. Compete in 500+ cars on world-famous tracks with cutting-edge AI and advanced physics,” said developer Turn10. More of the game’s single player mode will be shown off at the next stream on June 13th.

Naturally, the game will be coming to Game Pass on day one for Xbox Series S/X and PC, but Turn10 also revealed that Xbox One owners can play the game via Cloud Streaming.

A couple of special editions were announced as well. For $89.99 / £89.99 you can get the Deluxe Edition with VIP Membership, a Car PassCar Pass (30 cars delivered to your game weekly, one per week) and the undefined Welcome Pack.

$99.99 / £99.99 snags you the Premium Edition. That comes with everything in the Deluxe version, plus a Race Day car pack and 5 days of early access.

We’ve not actually seen a mainline Forza game since 2017. Meanwhile, Playground Games have published two of the Forza Horizon spin-offs which have arguably eclipsed the primary Forza games in popularity. With six years between games, there are a lot of people expecting Forza Motorsport to deliver something special, not only to compete with the more bombastic Forza Horizon series, but also to go toe-to-toe with Gran Turismo 7.
