A little while ago Sony stated that it had aggressive plans for cloud streaming, a growing market that Microsoft has been frolicking around in for a while now. And now they’ve cracked the lid just a little bit on those plans.
In a blog post announcing the Playstation Plus game catalogue additions for June, Sony casually revealed that it is working on letting players stream Playstation 5 games via the black magic of the cloud.
“First off, we have very exciting news for PlayStation Plus Premium members. We’re currently testing cloud streaming for supported PS5 games – this includes PS5 titles from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Game Trials, as well as supported digital PS5 titles that players own.” said Nick Maguire.
Currently, you can stream certain PS3 games – because Sony still can’t work out how to get them working natively on modern hardware – and PS4 titles.
Exactly when you can expect this Premium tier exclusive feature wasn’t revealed, though.
“We’re in the early stages right now, and we can’t wait to share more details when we’re ready, including a launch time frame. Stay tuned!”
Tuned? I’m not a guitar, Nick, calm down.
This announcement makes the baffling Q-lite even more baffling as being able to stream PS5 games directly to it while out and about would be fantastic.
