The South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee may have just leaked yet another game, something which they’ve become astoundingly adept at. This time it’s a new rating for Red Dead Redemption, a game that launched thirteen years ago.
Gematsu spotted the listing which is for a console version of Red Dead Redemption. The listing is separate from past ratings for the original game, the Undead Nightmare Collection the Game of the Year edition, indicating that this is for a brand new version of the title.
Previously, there were rumours Rockstar were working on remasters of both Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption, but both were believed to have been binned. However, it always seemed odd that Rockstar wouldn’t tap into Red Dead Redemption considering how incredibly popular it was (around 23 million copies sold) and the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently the 8th highest selling game ever, having moved 53 million copies.
In other words, Rockstar’s western is a gold mine. Rockstar are certainly willing to dive into their back catalogue, as shown by the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy which collected GTA 3, Vice and San Andreas.
And it’s hard to imagine what else this new rating could be pointing to, other than a remaster or a bog-standard port designed to bring the epic story of John Marston to the modern consoles. What other reason could there be for Red Dead Redemption to pop up in a ratings board again, 13 years after it first came out?
What do you guys think? Is this nothing, a remaster or a port? And could we finally see RDR on PC?
