The latest issue of Edge magazine has begun to drop through subscribers’ letterboxes. Although print is dying a slow death, Edge magazine continues to be the only magazine I continue to support thanks to its sharp writing and interesting reviews.
Speaking of which, Edge #387 contains quite a few reviews, so lets take a quick look at what scores got handed out, shall we?
First, Final Fantasy 16 got a 3-page review which culminated in a score of 7. Here’s an excerpt that sums up Edge’s feelings about the game: “The creative aims are clear and well-met: to create a Final Fantasy game with a more serious and grounded story, a more fashionable battle system and more mature themes, and to explore the societal implications of a world in which magic and monsters exist, and their effects on human ambitions and systems of power. On these counts, Final Fantasy XVI’s gamble is a success.”
C-Smash VRS took home a 6: “It’s hard not to wish we lived in a parallel universe where C-Smash arrived in its most complete form, with more to do, and less to forgive.”
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals was given a 5.
The review for Aliens: Dark Descent was capped off with an 8 and is described as being, “the best Alien-licensed game not made by Creative Assembly.”
And here’s the rest:
- Trepang2 – 7
- Master Detective Archives: Rain Code – 6
- Synapse – 7
- Roto Force – 8
- Dordogne – 7
- Venba – 8
