All the games on Xbox Game Pass Core

Xbox Game Pass Core is the new basic subscription service from Microsoft, offering a range of games for a monthly price.

Game Pass Core has officially replaced Xbox Live Gold as the cheapest subscription option available on Xbox. Priced at £6.99/$9.99, Xbox Game Pass Core provides a small selection of benefits, including access to a library of games. While the term Game Pass is included in the name, you do not get access to the hundreds of games available on the full Game Pass subscription.

Like Games with Gold, that £6.99/$9/99 per month lets you play multiplayer games with friends and other players from around the world. However, instead of getting a couple of free ( and usually pretty bad) games per month, Game Pass Core gives you 41 games to play so long as you have an active subscription. Microsoft intends on updating the library a few times a year, so check back regularly to see if anything new has been added.

The selection is pretty good, from some of Microsoft’s own first-party titles like Gears 5, Doom Eternal and Fallout 4, to 3rd party titles such as the exceptional Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. For a first-timer Xbox player, there are hundreds of hours of good gameplay, justifying the price tag.

If you’ve been playing games for a while, though, you might not find much on Game Pass Core that you haven’t already tried out and may want to upgrade to the full Game Pass plan, unless you simply want to play multiplayer games.
