UPDATE: Jason Schreier of Bloomberg has heard something that makes him think Silksong won’t be appearing. He recently appeared on a podcast where he and his fellows speculated on what might show up at Summer Game Fest, and Jason said that he would bet on Silksong appearing. On Reddit, he later stated that this was just speculation and not because of anything he had hear professionally.

However, in another Reddit thread he has since said that “Sadly I no longer think it’ll be there :(” and when another user asked if this was also speculation or something he had hear, Jason replied: “I heard something that changed my mind.”

ORIGINAL STORY: There’s increasing circumstantial evidence that Hollow Knight: Silksong might finally be properly shown at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase, and perhaps could even be shadow dropped like Hi-Fi Rush was.

The latest piece of news to get the beleaguered Hollow Knight fanbase excited comes from Nintendo which has released a trial version of Hollow Knight for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, letting you download and play the game at no cost. This trial, which contains the entire game, will be available until June 12, a few days after Summer Game Fest ends. Nintendo is also scheduled to hold a Direct event in June, although no exact day has been revealed.

It seems rather odd to offer a trial for a game that’s been readily available for years, hence speculation that this has been done to coincide with the sequel being shown off at one of the showcase events. Some people are even idly wondering if it could indicate that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available to play immediately after making its grand on-stage debut.

We also know that Silksong will be launching onto Game Pass straight away, increasing the odds that it could appear at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9.

Other evidence also appeared recently when Hollow Knight: Silksong rated for release in South Korea, a typically very reliable sign that a game is nearing release. It also got an official Xbox store page a few months back.

All of this could mean nothing, but the timing is certainly compelling. And who can blame fans for getting excited? Hollow Knight is a beloved gem and the sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced five years ago. It was meant to release in 2023 but was pushed back. Information about what to expect has been slim to none.

What do you think? Could Silksong not only appear at the Summer Game Fest but may even be released?
