The Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition was announced last year by Ubisoft following it being leaked. At the time, the company said we’d hear more in 2024 but hasn’t said anything since.

Well, based on some new evidence it looks like the game will be appearing very soon, perhaps even as a shadow drop at the upcoming Nintendo Direct which is due to occur sometime this month.

The evidence is twofold: firstly, the game’s PS5 Trophy List has popped up on trophy tracking site Exophase, suggesting that the game is in the PlayStation backend somewhere. Of course, this doesn’t always point to a release happening soon, as we found out when the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake trophies appeared earlies this year, only for Ubisoft to eventually announce the game isn’t going to be out until 2026.

But there’s a second piece of compelling evidence, too. As spotted by Gemastu, a 1.01 patch for the PS4 version of Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition has been uploaded to Sony’s backend, including patch notes.

Now, naturally one would assume that if the game was ready to go that Ubisoft would have at least mentioned in their Ubisoft Forward a few days ago. Well, according to a short article from Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming: “It’s unclear why the game wasn’t announced at Ubisoft Forward, but I did hear whispers that it failed to meet certain criteria to be shadowdropped during the event.”

These new pieces of evidence have gotten fans discussing the possibility that the remaster could appear at Nintendo’s upcoming Direct, which is currently believed to be occurring on June 18 but that isn’t confirmed, and could even be shadow dropped on the same day. That, of course, is purely speculation, but certainly compelling.
