2025 seems to have been the year of Battlefield 6. While the latest Call of Duty has been struggling in both sales and player numbers, Battlefield 6 has continued to perform well, and according to the latest sales data, it’s comfortably the best-selling game of the year.

Alinea Analytics has proven fairly reliable when it comes to its sales data. Reading through the latest newsletter by Rhys Elliott reveals that Battlefield 6 has allegedly sold over 20 million copies.

Based on what we currently know both officially and unofficially, this makes Battlefield 6 the best-selling game of 2025, in terms of copies sold. If we generously assume each copy was sold for the RRP of $70, that’s a total of $1.4 billion in revenue. Not too shabby.

Mind you, it was reported that by 2023, Battlefield 6‘s development costs had already hit $400 million, and that EA were gunning for 100 million players. At the time of writing, the game is bringing in just over 100,000 concurrent players per day on Steam.

Exactly why this Battlefield has performed so well is a layered topic. There has been a growing Call of Duty fatigue, which has undoubtedly aided in Battlefield 6 being able to sell millions upon millions of copies in just its first week on sale. It even beat out Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 by 63% in Europe. But Call of Duty’s failure does not negate the hard work of Battlefield Studios, who worked tirelessly to create an excellent multiplayer shooter that focused on delivering a grittier tone than the clown show that Call of Duty’s multiplayer has become over the years. In the end, launching right when CoD stumbled was like capturing lightning in a bottle for Battlefield 6.

Jumping back to the data for a second, Alinea claims that Battlefield 6 has managed to bring in 26 million players, although that number does include Redsec, the free-to-play Battlefield 6 spinoff.

Unless Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 manages to conjure up some insane sales from somewhere, it looks like Battlefield 6 will take the crown this year.
