While it remains a rumour, the idea that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt might be getting new DLC is looking solid. Now, there are new reports that add even more details to the growing pile, making it inevitable that a decade after the Blood And Wine DLC The Witcher 3 is going to get another add-on.
Over the past week, IGN Poland and PPE.pl have both published pieces claiming that CD Projekt Red has had plans for a third major expansion for years. While there’s still been no official announcement, the consistency and confidence of these latest reports make them some of the strongest signals yet that Geralt’s adventure isn’t quite finished.
IGN Poland’s reporting is particularly eye-catching, with the outlet claiming it was made aware of expansion plans “years ago” by a reliable source. According to its coverage, CD Projekt Red originally explored the idea of sending players to Zerrikania, a region long-established in Witcher lore but never properly explored in the games.
IGN Poland also interprets CDPR’s recent financial statements as a quiet acknowledgement that something substantial tied to The Witcher 3 is still in development.
PPE.pl has echoed much of this, stating that its own sources were already talking about “new, big content we’ll love” as far back as early 2025. Its reporting leans heavily towards Zerrikania as the most likely destination, citing both development efficiency and lore-friendly opportunities.
These latest claims don’t exist in a vacuum. They sit on top of nearly a year of converging signals from analysts, insiders and CD Projekt Red itself. In December 2025, Noble Securities analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski predicted a paid Witcher 3 add-on releasing in May 2026, priced at around $30 and capable of selling as many as 11 million copies. His projection even went as far as estimating a development budget of roughly 52 million PLN.
Euroogamer contacted Chrzanowski to ask how confident he was about the prediction and were told “I’m 100 percent certain CDPR will release significant new content this year, as the incentive program is still 700 million PLN short [GBP 144m].” Eurogamer also spoke
The incentive program he describes requires CDPR to earn PLN 2bn (£412m) cumulative net profit between 2023 and 2026, PLN 3bn (£617m) between 2024 and 2027, and PLN 4bn (£823m) between 2025 and 2028. If they achieve this, various key members of the studio will get a major bonus. Cyberpunk 2077 continues to bring in a lot of cash for the studio, but they still need something bigger if they want that bonus.
Long-running insider commentary has also pointed towards Fool’s Theory being involved, with Polish journalist Borys Nieśpielak repeatedly stating that the studio is developing story-driven DLC for The Witcher 3 alongside its work on the Witcher 1 remake. His belief is that the new DLC will lay the groundwork for the upcoming Witcher 4.
CD Projekt Red’s own comments have seemingly hinted toward something as well.. During its Q3 2025 earnings call, joint CEO Michał Nowakowski acknowledged that “new content hinted upon in recent calls and reports may see release in the coming year,” while CFO Piotr Nielubowicz discussed potential financial impact in 2026 tied to unannounced projects.
And while it’s not exactly definitive proof, the fact that CD projekt Red hasn’t outright denied all the rumours and reports is interesting. They’ve simply given the generic “we don’t comment on speculation and rumours” line.
Back in 2025, Polish gaming insider Remigiusz Maciaszek also shared that he had heard about Fool’s Theory working on DLC for The Witcher 3, and that CD Projekt Red’s comments about working with Fool’s Theory gave him the confidence to voice what he had heard.
Individually, none of this would be enough to declare a new Witcher 3 expansion a certainty. Taken together, though, it’s a strong message. Independent Polish outlets, financial analysts and industry insiders have all been telling broadly the same story since mid-2025.
Personally, if this is happening, I’m guessing the DLC won’t actually feature Geralt, or might just have him as a cameo. It’ll be far more focused on Ciri, to set the stage for her adventures in The Witcher 4.
