To nobody’s surprise, Fable was revealed to be coming to PlayStation 5 on day one when it launches later in Autumn of this year, alongside Xbox and PC. And, of course, it’ll be on Game Pass.
The announcement was made at the recent Xbox Developer Direct event where we got a more in-depth look at the gameplay and visuals of the new Fable game, which was described as “a new beginning” for the series.
We didn’t get a more precise release date. Autumn of 2026 is all we’ve been told, which makes me a little wary that it might get pushed back into 2027 at some point. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen.
The look at the game we got did allay some of my fears, though, because we got to see some of the classic Fable stuff. For example, there’s a thousand NPCs you can marry, you can buy houses, kick chickens, there’s a morality system at play etc. The new morality seems to be based upon location, so people on Bowerstone might hate you, while another town might absolutely love you.
Mind you, they’ve also said they aren’t going to include the good/evil body morphing from the past games, so being an evil bastard won’t give you horns any more. That’s a big disappointment.
Mark down Autumn for so adventuring, then.
