The worst kept secret in the world is the remaster/remake of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. From insider reports to art books popping up on Amazon, we all know it’s happening, and now Ubisoft is getting in on the teasing.

The company released an Assassin’s Creed franchise today amidst its continuing upheaval, revealing some future plans for the series and more. In the post, new Head of Content Jean Guesdon, who also just so happened to be also director on Black Flag, dropped a massive tease.

“Speculation around Assassin’s Creed is not new, but it’s worth repeating: ‘Nothing is true. Everything is permitted,’” Guesdon wrote while waving a saber around. “Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon.

Now, technically that’s not an official confirmation. It’s just a fun tease. Except, the post was accompanied by this piece of artwork which straight up says Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced on it.

You might recall that Resynced was the the title that various leaks and reports said the game was going to be called instead of just remaster or remake. That title was all but confirmed when PEGI listed it on their site.

This is the first time Ubisoft has direct acknowledged the existence of the game.

No release date was mentioned. Recently we learned that a bunch of projects were delayed and it was believed Resynced was one of them, with the new estimate being 2027. It seems like we will be getting something more concrete soon, though, based on Guesdon’s comments.

The prior leaks and rumours also suggest the game is being heavily reworked, including introducing some RPG elements in a bid to make it feel like the modern Assassin’s Creed titles, a potentially very controversial move. Don’t fuck with the pirates, people!
