Here’s a piece of news I was not expecting: Darksiders: Warmastered is getting a native PS5 release. But things are a little pecuilar, because there’s almost zero details to go on.

The announcement has been very quiet, though, and almost zero details have been offered up. We do know that the Warmastered edition, which was a 2014 remaster of the original game released, will be getting a native PS5 and Xbox Series S/X release on May 19.

Apart from that, though, we know absolutely nothing. No pricing has been mentioned, nor whether it’s a free upgrade for existing owners.

Perhaps most importantly, we don’t know what this release add, if anything. There’s been no mention of higher framerates, improved resolution or anything else, so it’s a mystery at the moment. Presumably, we will find out more as May draws closer.

However, we can make some guesses because THQ Nordic previously did something similiar with Darksiders 2: The Deathinitive Edition. PS5 and Xbox Series S/X owners got the upgrade for free if they already owned the game, which added 4K resolution, ray tracing, improved lighting and shadows, and faster loading times. There’s a strong chance this Warmastered release for the first game will do the same.

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting on more news of Darksiders 4 following its announcement last year.
