Following a few leaks, Microsoft has official lifted the lid on a new Metro title from Deep Silver and 4A games titled Metro 2039. And we won’t have to wait long to get a look at it.
Xbox will be holding a Showcase on Thursday, April 16, at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm UK.
“Xbox has always been a home for the franchise, and we’re honored to continue that relationship by bringing you a first look at this next exciting chapter,” says the official Xbox Wire post.
The game will most likely be coming to PlayStation and PC like the prior entries have, but it seems like there’s maybe some sort of marketing deal in place for Xbox since they are getting to show it to the world first.
No other games were mentioned, so it looks like this is just a one-off Showcase.
Now, we enter the rumour zone, so if you want to avoid potential spoilers for the upcoming game, STOP READING!
According to prior rumours, Artyom may not be the main protagonist in Metro 2039, and the setting may return to the underground metro tunnels rather than a full-blown open-world, in a bid to bring back more of the clausterphobic horror. Some reports have hinted that Artyom would still be involved, be either as a secondary character, or in a dual-protagonist role.
