Earlier this year, Amazon delayed Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the remake of the original game. And now, they’ve also gone and delayed Tomb Raider: Catalyst, a new entry in the adventures of Lara Croft.

They did it in a pretty quiet way, too. Amazon head of gaming Jeffrey Gattis just slipped it into an interview with The Game Business, the very same interview where Gattis seemed to all but confirm that the 007 First Light sequel will be made by IO Interactive.

While discussing Amazon’s broader gaming strategy, Gatiss dropped this: “We have announced the two Tomb Raider titles. [Legacy of] Atlantis comes February 12 next year, and then we’ll follow on in 2028 with the next one. We’re excited about those. There are some other AAA things that are in various stages of discussion right now.”

If you can’t quite recall, Tomb Raider: Catalyst was scheduled to launch in 2027. Chances are with the remake getting pushed back to 2027, the team decided that putting out two Tomb Raider titles in the same year was too much. But that’s purely speculation.
