Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that God of War: Laufey will launch exclusively for PS5 on February 16, 2027. The date was announced during the game’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where the studio also reaffirmed that it will be available physically.

The announcement confirms previous reports that Laufey was targeting February or March. If you somehow missed its reveal, God of War: Laufey shifts the spotlight away from Kratos and onto his late wife, Faye, as she explores the Everywhen, a strange afterlife populated by gods and creatures drawn from multiple mythologies. In this case, that includes a talking jelly-cube.

February is already looking brutally busy. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launches on February 12, just four days before Laufey, while Persona 4 Revival arrives two days later on February 18. Fable follows on February 23, while Metro 2039 is also currently scheduled for sometime during the month. Apparently, February has grown tired of September getting all the attention and has decided to become an overcrowded nightmare as well.

The panel also confirmed that another God of War starring Kratos is in development and will connect directly to the events of Laufey. No title, release window or platforms were announced, although previous reports have suggested Kratos’ next adventure could take him to Egypt.

Still, confirmation that Kratos will return isn’t exactly shocking. Another game starring gaming’s angriest dad was about as inevitable as Kratos losing his temper the moment a god looks at him slightly funny. The more interesting part is that Laufey appears to be actively setting up whatever comes next, rather than being a disconnected spin-off.
