It’s going to be a little while until you need to draw your silver and steel, because The Witcher 4 isn’t launching until 2028.

CD Projekt Red’s CEO Michał Nowakowski appeared in a video on the developer’s social media where he discussed what to expect at GamesCom. It seems the team wants to set expectations, clearly stating that The Witcher 4 will not be at the event. Nor are they ready to offer an exact release date.

They are, however, willing to give us a release window: 2028.

“I know it’s a bit of a wait and you’d love to play it sooner,” said Nowakowski. “but let the team cook. It will be worth the wait.”

During the video we were also reminded that the new Witcher 3 expansion Songs of the Past will be shown off at GamesCom, so at least we won’t be completely devoid of Witcher.

Going back to The Witcher 4 for a minute, the CD Projekt Red team is aiming to release the entire new trilogy within a six year period. In other words, if The Witcher 4 launches in 2028, the trilogy should be wrapped by 2034.
