Do you see that? That’s October charging over the hill, coming to punch us in the face and remind us that time is still ticking by. Oh, and it also comes to gift us with another batch of ‘free’ PS Plus games.
As always, this month’s three games are availabe to anyone with a paid PS Plus subscription. As long as you claim them and add them to your library, they’ll be available to play so long as you still have a valid subscription.
The games will be available from October 6 to November 2.
In 1st place and billed as the headline game, we have F1 25 (PS5), the newest entry in the long-running racing series. It has an Opencritic average score of 80, and overall fans seem really happy with the latest iteration.
I haven’t actually touched the series since….I can’t even remember now. Probably since before EA take the franchise over, so I’m actually quite interested in seeing how much it has changed.
The F1 2026 season is also being promised as a paid expansion rather than a whole new game, so it’s a smart move to offer F1 25 as part of PS Plus.

Enjoy single player experiences such as Career and My Team 2.0, letting you create your own F1 stories as you take control as the Owner of a Formula 1 team. Next, it’s Hunt: Showdown 1896 (PS5), the popular extraction shooter. At this point, it’s 8 years old, but in 2024 it got something of a second life with the 1896 relaunch. Since then, it’s been like a live-service title, with events being run, constant updates, new progression systems and heaps more. Earlier this month, update 2.9 dropped which added a new Make Them Bleed community objective, a new weapon, a new time-of-day condition and a heap more.
Looks like this is a move to add a few more folk to the player base.

Finally, it’s Earth Defence Force: World Brothers 2 (PS5,PS4). I had never even heard of this, so I looked it up. Turns out, it’s a voxel version of the classic Earth Defence games. Basically, you shoot giant bugs, but in a world that looks like someone made it out of Lego and a lot of patience. Looks like good goofy fun.
