The Infamous franchise has been dormant since 2014, and has not shown any signs of being resurrected , especially since developer Sucker Punch is busy with the Ghost Of games these days. But apparently, Infamous might be making a comeback, and not via Sucker Punch.
Jordan Middler dropped the information on the latest episode of the VGC Podcast. The group were discussing what various PlayStation studios are up to, and naturally Sucker Punch came into the conversation.
I’m curious to see what Sucker Punch does forward. Like, especially with the film, I assume they’ll do another Ghost Of, but there is a groundswell of people that want Infamous. I’m under the impression that there is an Infamous thing happening somewhere else in PlayStation at the minute, not tied to them [Sucker Punch]
Middler moves on forward with the conversation, and the fact that something Infamous related is in the works is never brought up again.
Middler also doesn’t specify if it’s a game or some sort of other projects, perhaps a TV show, animated fil, comic series or something else.
This isn’t the first time we have had faint whisperings of a new Infamous project. In 2022, Sucker Punch themselves said there are“no Infamous or Sly Cooper games in development,” and “no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either.”
However, in 2024, there was mentions of both of those franchises getting revived by Sony. There were also rumours of a PC port of Infamous 2 via Nixxes, although Sony’s recent retreat from PC gaming probably means that won’t happen.
Nate Fox, the man who directed several Infamous games and both Ghost Of games, even expressed interest in 2025, saying he would “love to work on more Infamous” and even a trilogy rerelease but that Sucker Punch is a one game studio, and they were focused on Ghost of Yotei.
But will it ever happen? And does Infamous have enough relevance in 2026 to bring in an audience?
