If you’ve even been paying the slightest bit of attention to the gaming world then you’re probably aware that there’s a considerable amount of rumour and speculation surrounding Half-Life 3 at the moment. Primarily that the game will be revealed at this years VGA Awards, especially since a Valve employee was recently seen wearing a Half-Life 3 T-shirt.
Well, things have just gotten a little more interesting, as a user over on Stickskills posted a link to an image that seemingly shows the Achievements for the game on Steam:
But before you get your knickers in a twist and start frothing at the mouth, there’s a couple of things wrong, or slightly odd, about this image. The first is the ‘Local Intranet’ that you’ll note at the bottom right-hand side of the image, which is certainly quite odd. The next is that the images used for the Achievements are pretty simplistic. That in itself doesn’t mean that they’re not the true images, but it does mean that they’d be very easy to create using just Paint. Next up is the Achievement descriptions, which don’t really match Valve’s usual style of writing. This could simply be because they’re not finalised, though. There’s also a few other elements within the image that just aren’t quite right.
Don’t bother attempting to follow the link shown at the top of the image; the page does not exist. Of course this would most likely mean that Valve had it taken down, for obvious reasons. So, is the image real? Is it fake, which seems likely, or is it a clever PR ploy by Valve. Only time will tell.
