XBox Live Arcade “House Party 2012” To Begin On February 15

There isn’t actually a house party at the XBox Live Arcade (that would be ridiculous), and I don’t think people will have a house party over the upcoming games. However, thus is the name Microsoft has chosen in anticipation of four upcoming games: Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, I Am Alive, Nexuiz, and Warp. Each from Microsoft, Ubisoft, THQ, and EA respectively.

XBox Live Arcade has been seeing a lot of interesting releases lately, and a lot more coverage than one would be forgiven for expecting. For those willing to indulge digital downloads (besides those overpriced digital copies of retail games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2), XBLA has a lot to offer, and it looks like that’s only going to get better.

Other than the starting date for the “House Party,” and that the titles will be released “back-to-back,” no other details have been released. Pricing details have yet to be released, and the order that I listed the games in isn’t their release order, they’re just alphabetized.

I’ll confess right now that I’m not a buff when it comes to XBLA/PSN titles, having only downloaded Shadow Complex at one point and showing some interest in Bastion, which I would have bought if its sale hadn’t coincided with my busy schedule of “do nothing” and “keep doing nothing.” I’m hoping that once I see a bit more of I Am Alive, this will change; games revolving around survival have always intrigued me. But when it comes to such games, I prefer the emphasis to be on the survival rather than the horror, something I feel that any game of the genre hasn’t exactly touched for me.

How about the rest of you? Will you be checking out any of the aforementioned games?
