It seems that Ubisoft really do have a problem with leaks regarding their upcoming title Assassin’s Creed 3 as Xbox.com have now accidentally confirmed that the game will have both competitive and co-operative multiplayer components. This is just after Xbox.com also accidentally revealed the release date for Trials Evolution and the existence of Fable: Heroes for Xbox Live Arcade. Seriously, somebody is going to be in a whole lot of trouble this week.
A quick visit to ACIII’s product page this morning revealed that the game would have “Online multiplayer 2-8″ and ” Online co-op 2-4″, as seen in this screen-grab:
However, since this screen-grab was taken Microsoft have edited the page and removed all mention of a co-op mode, but have, rather interestingly, not removed the confirmation of a competitive multiplayer mode, leaving it for the world to see.
Given the success of the multiplayer in both Brotherhood and Revelations the inclusion of competitive multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed III is hardly a surprising one, but co-operative multiplayer certainly is and will doubtless lead to considerable speculation as to what form it will take. Perhaps we’ll be teaming up during the campaign or it’ll be a series of separate missions for us to tackle together.
Either way, color me interested.
