Mass Effect 3 To Get Free Extended Cut Ending DLC

Unless you’ve been living under a rock and surviving by drinking your own urine then you’ll have probably noticed that the Internet has recently become something akin to a warzone as masses of annoyed fans took up their keyboards to voice their displeasure at Mass Effect 3’s ending. Putting it mildly, fans were upset at the games ending feeling that it didn’t offer any closure on the characters that they had come to know and love, contained quite a few plot holes and generally just left them feeling disappointed, with some fans even going so far as to say it had ruined the entire trilogy and that they would never play the games again. If nothing else at least Bioware can be happy in the knowledge that they created a series which fans are passionate about.

Up until today both Bioware and EA have dropped numerous hints that they might release some sort of DLC that either changed the ending entirely or simply provided more clarity to what the hell actually happened. Well, today Bioware have announced Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut, a completely free DLC pack that promises to, “give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes,” by adding in brand new cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes.

“We are all incredibly proud of Mass Effect 3 and the work done by Casey Hudson and team,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare and General Manager of EA’s BioWare Label. “Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe.”

Casey Hudson had this to say: “We have reprioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player.”

Of course this won’t be soothing news to any gamers out there that don’t have Internet connection and that are unhappy with the ending. Sorry boys and girls!

Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will be available to download on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC sometime this Summer at the low price of absolutely nothing.
