For years gamers have been talking about the possibility of Bethesda creating an MMO set in the Elder Scrolls world, allowing us to team up with fellow players anc explore the iconic land. Well, now all of your wet dreams have come true as Bethesda have today announced The Elder Scrolls Online, coming to PC and Mac sometime in the future. And that’s about it for details.
Bethesda’s press release regarding their announcement of this massively multiplayer online role-playing contains very few actual details on the game itself, other than that the project is being led by Matt Firor who has two decades of MMO experience. However, the press release does promise that plenty of juicy details will be revealed in June’s issue of Game Informer, of which The Elder Scrolls Online will be the cover story.
“We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted,” said Matt Firor, game director of The Elder Scrolls Online. “It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”
So the dream has finally come to fruition and we’re getting an online version of the Elder Scrolls. Let’s just hope they do the series justice.
