Later this year Codemasters will be releasing F1 2012 onto the shop shelves and it should be the most accurate representation of the sport yet, providing a chance for all of us mere mortals to experience the thrill of racing a F1 car around Monoco. But what if want a less realistic take on Formula One? While that seems like a bit of a strange idea, Codemasters believe there’s a market for it as they have today announced F1 Race Stars, a kart racing game based around the intense sport.
The new game will release in November and features all the official teams and drivers from the real-life sport, albeit with all of them sporting a slightly different look. All the tracks from the F2 calender will also be featured, but they’ll all be sporting fantastical redesigns that dd in things like jumps and loop-the-loops for some high-speed insanity. And of course the game will also be featuring power-ups, a staple of the kart racing genre.
Codemasters are also promising an extensive career mode that boasts multiple championships, four-player split-screen action and 12-player online mayhem.
Chris Gray, Senior Producer on F1 RACE STARS, had this to say: “We’re really excited to bring the whole cast of FORMULA ONE into a fun new world of racing. We’ve really let our Art and Design teams off the leash to bring F1 stars’ personalities alive in a new way and create a game where racing fans of all ages can jump into all-action solo, split-screen and online multiplayer races. It’s the game we’ve wanted to create for a long time and, building on our strong relationship with Formula One Management Limited, we’re now able to bring Codemasters’ long-standing expertise in track design and AI to create a FORMULA ONE racing experience quite unlike any other.”
F1 Race Stars will be released in November of this year for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
