Did I ever mention I’m a massive Gears of War fan? Well, I am and as such Judgement has got me pretty excited. The reaction to the trailer has been interesting with quite a lot of accusations of milking the franchise appearing, which is a little odd as nobody seemed to be saying that about Halo 4. But let’s be honest, in this age of gaming we know companies are going to continue making games in a series as long as they’re going to sell: Call of Duty, Halo, LEGO and Guitar Hero are a few prime examples.
And if we’re being really honest, you buy a Gears of War game for the Gears of War style action: if it radically changed, then it wouldn’t be Gears of War any more, just like Halo wouldn’t be Halo and Call of Duty wouldn’t be Call of Duty. What I’m getting here is hand me my chainsaw already. If I wanted something different, I would be playing something different.
With Gears of War: Judgement under developement by People Can Fly, it’ll be interesting to see what the Bulletstorm devs decide to do with the franchise, especially given that Epic will keeping a watchful eye on their biggest seller.
