With rumours flying around at the moment that the next Assassin’s Creed game will be titled Black Flag and feature pirates, it seems that we’ll get official word on Monday as there was an Assassin’s Creed media event held today for the press. No invite for me, Ubisoft? No? Ah well.
According to MCVOnline the details of this event are embargoed until Monday. However, in their tweet they did also say that some of the information may have already leaked, hinting that all or some of the rumours currently circulating may be true.
@tbuxton42 The details are embargoed until Monday, alas. Although some might have already leaked out…

Speaking of which, more news regarding the game has turned up, with the Examiner reporting that the next game will have Edward Kenway as the lead character, the father of Haytham Kenway from Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed: Forsaken. Edward Kenway is described as a privateer, Assassin and occasional pirate. The report carries on to say that the game will take place in the Caribbean where players can travel to several different islands, making use of those bloody awesome naval mechanics from Assassin’s Creed III and eliciting cries of, “I’ve got a jar of dir! I’ve got a jar of dirt!”. This would certainly match up with the leaked poster that appeared yesterday, depicting piratey action, but where the Examiner is getting its information from is a mystery.
I’m speculating that some information will be indeed be released on Monday, but that the full reveal to be done in the April issue of Game Informer magazine.
In the mean time, go and read the review for the first episode in Tyranny of King Washington for Assassin’s Creed III. Go on, you know you want to.
