Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Debut Trailer Leaked Along With Screenshots

Christ, it looks like Ubisoft have more leaks than the worlds crappiest pirate ship as the debut trailer for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which wasn’t supposed to be shown until tomorrow, has leaked on to the magical internet thingy. Like the debut trailer for each Assassin’s Creed game before it, this one is entirely CGI, so no gameplay footage, sadly.

That’s not all, though, because six pictures, which you can find at the bottom of this post, have also be leaked.

The trailer confirms pretty much every leaked piece of information from the past few weeks: the game stars Edward Kenway, the father of Haytham Kenway and therefore grandfather of Connor Kenway, and has a rather distinctive pirate theme going on, what with all the naval battles and pirates and stuff. While it’s easy to complain about this being yet another yearly release, the trailer and shots show a very different looking Assassin’s Creed game, and Edward gives the impression that he’s going to be something of a charming rogue, not unlike a certain Italian by the name of Ezio. Like Assassin’s Creed III before it we can also assume that Black Flag has been in development for a little while. In fact I’d be willing to be that it has been done by the same group who developed Brotherhood and Revelations, giving it a developement time of two-years by release.

Meanwhile the pictures indicate that Edward certainly has a penchant for wielding two swords, and that the frontier free-running mechanics from Assassin’s Creed III will be getting put to good use. And then there’s a whale. I don’t know why, but there’s a whale. And that’s pretty awesome.

The trailer confirms October 29th as the release, and that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be arriving on next-gen consoles at some point down the line.

You can officially color me excited by Black Flag. Assassin’s Creed III left me feeling disappointed, but this looks like it could do wonders for the franchise.
