Bethesda Announce The Evil Within

Bethesda stated that they were planning on making more noise in 2013, and they’ve certainly began that plan well with the announcement of a brand new survival horror game by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. Titled The Evil within it’s due to be released on next-gen consoles, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC sometime in 2014.

Mikami told IGN, who will get the exclusive reveal of the game, that: “We’re incredibly proud to announce The Evil Within. My team and I are committed to creating an exciting new franchise, providing fans the perfect blend of horror and action.”

IGN also have the exclusive live-action reveal trailer, so you’ll have to head over there to witness the weirdness that is a four-armed monster being birthed by a pool of blood. If nothing else that would be an impressive conversation starter at a dinner party, I suppose. Oh, and IGN will also be getting an exclusive first-look at the game. They’ll be posting their impressions on Monday, April 22nd at 7:00 AM Pacific time.

I’m not personally a huge horror game fan, largely because they’ve mostly abandoned the horror part and are now about as a scary as a brick with the word “boo” written on it, but the trailer has got my interest. Here’s hoping Mikami delivers something special.

On another note, a quick visit to the IGN Youtube video where they cover the announcement reveals quite a few people hitting the dislike button. Not because they actually dislike The Evil Within, it seems, but because they’re annoyed Bethesda didn’t announce Fallout 4.
