With the Playstation 4 reveal well and truly out of the way we’re all now just waiting around to see what Microsoft are going to bring to the table. As it turns out we won’t be waiting much longer as invites to a special Microsoft media event have been sent out to the gaming press, asking them to come along and see, “A New Generation Revealed”.
The event is due to take place in Redmond, Washington on May 21st and you can expect it to be streamed live on Xbox 360 and SpikeTV.
Major Nelson has also posted a countdown timer to the event, stating on his blog:
“On Tuesday May 21st, we’ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment. On that day, we’ll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE and broadcast on Spike TV if you are in the US or Canada.”
According to Major Nelson they’ll carry on the presentation 19-days later at E3 where they will reveal their full line-up of games.
Well, exciting stuff! The various rumours surrounding the Xbox 720 haven’t exactly been painting the console in the best way possible, so it will be nice to finally see if any of it has any truth, or if its all just been a lot of noise about nothing.
In the previous generation I had a Playstation 2, while in this generation I went with the Xb0x 360. In the next-gen I hope to have both consoles, money allowing, so I can cover every exclusive that pops up, something which I’ve been unable to do this generation due to money constraints.
It’ll be interesting to see what Microsoft have up their sleeve. The Playstation 4 looks impressive and the focus is in the right areas, namely in making it an easy machine for developers to work with.
One thing is for sure, while I can’t afford to fly out to Richmond to attend the event, I’ll be glued to the sceen watching the live-stream, assuming it works better than the Playstation 4 stream, of course. God, that was a pain.
