Codemasters have today revealed the release date for this years iteration of their F1 series. F1 2013 will be released on October 4th for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. To celebarate Codemasters have released a video of an in-game lap of the Hungaroring circuit.

This years release is attempting to bring some freshness to the series with the inclusion of a Classics mode, allowing gamers to race some of the iconic F1 cars from across the years.

“F1 2013 will feature a new gameplay mode called F1 Classics giving fans the chance to race classic cars on iconic circuits against legendary drivers for the first time in Codemasters’ award-winning series. Introduced by legendary broadcaster Murray Walker, F1 Classics features a new fictional racing series allowing players to race cars, drivers and circuits from the 1980s. Classic content is also available in a range of other game modes, including split-screen and online multiplayer modes.”

Sound good to me! As much as I enjoy the F1 games released by Codemasters, there’s no denying that last years 2012 entry didn’t exactly provide customers with a lot of reasons to purchase it over the 2011 iteration. Hopefully classics mode will be enough to bring some excitement back.
