Mortal Kombat 10 could be in development, with a new film based on the franchise due to “sync up” with its launch.
Lance Sloane, the man who created the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series, announced at San Diego comic-con this year plans for a brand new Mortal Kombat movie.
In an interview with GamerHub.TV Sloane talked about how the team is currently attempting to work out the best time to launch the movie, and briefly mentioned attempting to line-up the films launch with the release of a new game from NetherRealms, indicating the existence of a new Mortal Kombat title:
“It’s just figuring out the business side of it and when we would do it and when we would launch it and how do we sync up with the launch of the game that they’re working on now.”
While it’s possible Sloane is referring to some other game that NetherRealm are working on, it seems most likely that he’s talking about a new Mortal Kombat title, otherwise why would he be trying to sync up his Mortal Kombat film with its release?
Considering the success of the last Mortal Kombat game released in 2011, it seems pretty unlikely that NetherRealm wouldn’t capitalise on that and create a sequel.
