Needless to say there were many surprised people when Rockstar announced GTA V for current generation consoles, but not for the Playstation 4 or Xbox One.

However, Amazon Germany has just listed GTA V for Sony’s PS4, sparking up the debate once again: will Rockstar’s latest title be coming to next generation consoles after all? Or is it just a simple mistake?

Though it may not yet be officially confirmed for next-gen consoles, Rockstar themselves believe that GTA V feels like a next-gen game. Speaking to IGN Phil Hooker  had this to say:

“Every aspect of the game had to be better, richer in gameplay, and more fluid – and knowing that we were launching on the same platforms meant that we could focus on extracting the most out of those consoles and making the game as fantastic as possible. In the end, we surpassed our own expectations, and during development I think that everyone working on the game has been astounded by the improvements to the graphics, or new mechanics, or artificial intelligence, or mission scope along the way.”

He concluded by saying: “Hopefully the gamers will see all of these improvements at once in one go. Compared to Grand Theft Auto IV, this definitely feels ‘next generation’ to us.”

There would certainly be plenty of people happy to see the game arrive on next-gen consoles, but the question that must be asked is whether or not it’s a financially sound thing for Rockstar to do. How much would it cost them to bring the game to the next generation of consoles? Or have they already done so, and are just waiting to make the announcement? However, if that’s the case then it would be a bit of a dick move on their behalf to let everyone buy the game next week and then announce that they’ve already got a next-gen version lined up.

If that’s not the case then that means they’re still in the process of deciding whether or not to do it, in which case how would Amazon already know about it?

As you can probably tell I have some doubts, then.
