Rumours were flying around this week that a LEGO Hobbit game may be in the works as a supposedly leaked flyer for the game showed brickified (that’s totally a word) versions of Bilbo, Gandalf and Thorin. The flyer came from one of 2014’s LEGO Hobbit sets and was reported by website Brickfan.
Warner Bros have now officially confirmed that they will indeed bet releasing a LEGO The Hobbit videogame in spring of 2014 for 3DS, PS Vita, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC and Mac.
Sadly the game will only feature levels and events from the first two films in the Hobbit trilogy by Peter Jackson. The third film, titled the Desolation of Smaug, won’t be getting released in Cinema’s until Christmas 2014.
Given that Traveller’s Tales and Warners Bros worked together to create games based on the entire Harry Potter film franchise and the legendary Lord of the Rings trilogy it’s hardly surprising that we can look forward to a LEGO version of The Hobbit next year.
In the mean time, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes was pretty awesome.
