Developers Can Now Provide Discounts On Their Games On Steam

Previously if developers wanted to slash the price of their games on Steam for a day or even a few weeks they needed to organise it through Valve, but now it seems they’ll be able to discount their titles whenever they want.

A Reddit user spotted a new feature in Private SteamWorks forums which allows developers to set a custom discount, and the amount of time the discount will be active for, granting companies the power to host massive sales whenever they want.

Essentially this is just streamlining an existing process so that developers don’t have to jump through hoops if they want to try and drum up some extra sales, but hopefully we’ll see it lead to an increase in discounts, possibly sparking a few pricing wars between developers as they battle for your attention.
