Warner Bros. have officially announced the release date for Shadow of Mordor, a game set in Middle-Earth that features a fantastic system which allows enemies to remember previous encounters with you. Shove an enemy into a fire, for example, an the next time you’ll encounter him he may have half a burned face, and be rather pissed about it.
According to Warner Bros. we can finally get our hands on Shadow of Mordor on October 7th of this year for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
Furthermore if you’re willing to take a leap of faith, and play straight into the pockets of publishers, and pre-order then you’ll also gain access a special Dark Ranger pack, which includes:
Dark Ranger Character Skin
– Begin your own quest for vengeance with a new Dark Ranger character skin that embodies Talion’s darker side
“Test of Power” Challenge Mode
– Face Sauron’s Captains and defeat them to earn powerful Runes and gain a head start in the game
Access to Leaderboards
– Test your speed, skill and strategy and measure yourself against your friends on the leaderboards
The mention of the pre-order pack bestowing access to the leaderboards is rather strange, as it almost seems to suggest that those who simply buy the game at launch or after won’t be able to use them, which would be idiotic. Presumably it actually means leaderboards for the Test of Power mode. I hope.
Regardless Shadow of Mordor looks fascinating, even if clambering around does have striking resemblance to Assassin’s Creed.
