Murdered: Soul Suspect has had my attention since it’s announcement, but the recent 101 trailer released by Square Enix has firmly sold me on the game. This looks like a wholly original and interesting tale, unlike anything we’ve seen before.
The fact that it’s set within Salem also intrigues. Doubtless you’ve all heard of the Salem witch trials. It’s pretty much the perfect setting for a supernatural game where you play as a spirit, rife with opportunities to use real historical figures and weave them into the plot. Salem has a dark past, and getting to uncover it in a game greatly appeals to me.
I’m also going to throw out a theory as to the killer here, so if you don’t want to read it simply click back now……still here? Good. Thomas Putman. Putman was an integral part to the Salem witch trials, attempting to influence them at just about every turn, as well as being the father to Ann Putnam Jr., the most prolific accuser in the entire proceedings. If he isn’t the killer, I still expect him or his daughter to play a role in the story.
But that’s just wild speculation.
