Bethesda have announced a new game by Battlecry Studios named…well, Battlecry. The game will offer up free-to-play 16vs16 player mayhem, and is Battlecry Studio’s first official game since they were founded back in 2012.
The concept of Battlecry is that gunpowder was banned following a cataclysmic world war at the dawn of the 20th century. Warfare as we know it no longer exists, instead conflicts are now resolved by elite teams of warriors bred for combat facing off against each other in specially sanctioned warzones.
As one would expect there’s the standard progression system that allows you to customise your characters, which is promised to offer ” deep strategic builds for your warrior on every level.”
“The BattleCry team is happy to unveil the game that bears our studio’s name,” said Rich Vogel, president and executive producer at BattleCry Studios. “We have been hard at work to create a fresh experience for gamers that brings together multiplayer action with visually stunning combat and are excited to share details about the game and have people play BATTLECRY in Bethesda’s booth at E3.”
As you can see the trailer looks lovely but doesn’t really give us any indication of what the game might actually be like. However, the setting and art design do look rather nice, which is hardly surprising given the involvement of Viktor Antonov, of Dishonored and Half-Life 2 fame. The four released screenshots which can be viewed below give us a very slightly clearer indication of what to expect.
Battlecry will arrive sometime in 2015 for PC.
