CD Projekt held their summer conference today where they promised to deliver some new information on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and boy did they deliver.
For one thing we now have a solid release date. While we knew that the game had been pushed back to February of 2015, no exact day was known. February 24th is the date that needs to be marked in your calender, the day that The Witcher 3 will arrive on Xbox One, PC and PS4.
A new trailer was also released, as shown above, and it is, quite frankly, bloody awesome.
Details were also shared on the three editions of the game available. The digital version will come with a digital artbook, an extended soundtrack and a download code for the Witcher comic from Dark Horse. meanwhile the standard retail version of the game will offer a pleasing amount of extra stuff usually reserved for limited editions, including a map, stickers, Witcher compendium and soundtrack.
But the collector’s edition is the star of the show, offering up a superb, hand-painted statue of Geralt kicking a griffin’s ass. It will also offer a sweet Witcher medallion and 200-page artbook, along with a steelbook and all the contents offered in the standard retail edition, all packaged in a pretty big box.
I’ve been out of the collector’s edition game for a little while now, but have to admit that I’m sorely tempted by this beauty. However, given the extreme prices being demanded for special editions these days, I’ll wait until we get a price. As of the time of writing the pre-order link that leads to game.co.uk is not working.
Excited? You should be. The previous game was a masterpiece of writing and a prime example of what a “mature” story actually is.
