Some surprising news came this morning; Ubisoft had pulled it’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4 and The Crew from Steam in the UK.
When asked about the titles not being available the company refused to provide any details behind why they were not available, but did confirm that Assassin’s Creed: Unity would not be available via Steam in the UK, stating:
“We’ve been in discussions with Valve about Assassin’s Creed Unity but for the time being the game is not available via Steam in the UK,” Ubisoft says.
“In the meantime, UK customers wishing to purchase the game digitally can do so by visiting the Uplay store, our retail partners or other digital distributors.”
However it now seems that Ubisoft’s forthcoming PC have been removed from the U.S. version of Steam too.
Given how huge Steam is it’s amazing that Ubisoft wouldn’t want their games on the service. Some have argued that Ubisoft simply want people to buy it directly through the universally disliked Uplay in order to cut out the middle man.
