Though we’ve known that Creative Assembly and Sega have been working on something involving the Warhammer license since 2012, when they signed a deal to create several titles based in the universe, it’s still nice to get some extra confirmation.
A Total War Center.net user going by the name “StormOfRazors” spotted a quote from Creative Assembly’s Mike Simpson within the pages of the recently released Total War art book, in which he states “and taking the series to a fantasy setting with Total War: Warhammer.”
In 2012 it was stated that Creative Assembly would be focusing on the “Warhammer universe of fantasy battles”, rather than the 40k universe.
The big question is whether Sega will now step forward and simply announce the game in response or keep quiet.
Personally I can’t wait to see the Total War formula used to create a Warhammer game, but Creative Assembly’s track record when it comes to launching games has hardly been impressive.
