EDIT: Sony has officially confirmed the Playstation Plus Essential games for July, as detailed below.
At this point Sony should give up officially announcing the free Playstation Plus Essential games for each month because they consistently get leaked anyway.
Word comes from DealLabs who have thus far proven very reliable. According to them, from July 4th you can claim Alan Wake Remastered, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Endling: Extinction is Forever.
Alan Wake Remastered is notable due to the sequel arriving in October, making this the perfect chance to get caught up. The remaster came out in 2021, nearly a decade after Alan Wake was released, and holds a score of 80 on Opencritic. Tristan Ogilvie of IGN describes it as “a fairly inessential upgrade for existing fans, but this moody mystery is still well worth a look for newcomers”
Alan Wake was on Game Pass for a while, too, which made sense considering it was originally published by Microsoft. However, it was taken off a while ago. With the sequel coming soon, might we see the remaster be added to Microsoft’s service?
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War came out in 2020 and holds a 75 on Opencritic. While not the highest-scoring game in the series, it sold like crazy.
Finally, Endling: Extinction is Forever is about playing as a fox looking after her cubs in a poignant journey. I don’t know much about it, so I’m planning on playing this one.
As always, even if you aren’t planning on playing any of these games you should still add them to your library in case you ever change your mind.
