The long-awaited Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 might be launching very soon, at least that’s what a new report from Exputer says.

According to the author eXtas1s, Ninja Theory’s new Xbox exclusive will launch on May 21, 2024, with the release date to be officially announced at the Developer Direct taking place on January 18.

eXtas1s has leaked several pieces of information before, including the release date of Redfall. Before this, his last exclusive scoop was the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox which he predicted as being December 6. This ended up being wrong, but only by 2 days as the game actually launched on December 8.

“Due to the matter of the informant’s anonymity, I cannot disclose the source’s origin, but the information is reliable enough to be talked about ahead of time,” said eXtas1s.

The Developer Direct lists Hellblade 2 as one of the games being shown off, though it specifically describes something more akin to a behind-the-scenes look at Ninja Theory’s studio.

If the information turns out to be accurate, Hellblade 2 will serve as one of Microsoft’s intended four first-party releases per year, locking down Q2. That would still leave Q1 wide open though, and there is some speculation of Microsoft performing another shadow-drop like last year’s Hi-Fi Rush (rumoured to be coming to Switch and PS5) but this time with a Double Fine game.

Personally, I’m stoked by the thought that Hellblade 2 could be close, even though I am a little worried about Nonja Theory and Microsoft’s reluctance to show solid gameplay footage despite showing the game off numerous times. I think those worries will wind up being for nought, though.
