The PlayStation brand is currently doing extremely well for itself, but despite that, we don’t really have a good idea of what Sony is planning going forward. That might change next month though, as new reports suggest a PlayStation Showcase is being planned.

The report in question comes from Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, a typically very reliable source. During the Giant Bombcast, Grubb is chatting about the recent ESRB rating that popped up for the Silent Hill 2 remake and mentions that it could be part of an upcoming Sony event happening in May,

“I have heard that there will be a PlayStation… something—either a State of Play or a Showcase—in May, so this [Silent Hill 2] is probably going to be there.” said Grubb.

“I’ve heard both a Showcase and maybe State of Play. It seems like it might lean towards Showcase, it’s definitely in that timeframe of when they did the Showcase last year.”

Replying to another user on X who asked whether Grubb thought the event would be a State of Play or a bigger Showcase, Jeff Grubb mentioned that, “Showcase is the way I lean.”

According to other reports, Sony is planning on launching a heavily upgraded version of the PlayStation 5 later this year. Could we see it being officially unveiled next month?

Of course, there are a host of other projects we know Sony’s studios are working on but have yet to announce.
