Vive les 60fps! Ubisoft is continuing its fun little trend of randomly updating older games, and this time it’s Assassin’s Creed: Unity getting the special treatment.

Head of Content Jean Guesdon made the announcement today in an Assassin’s Creed update post, the very same in which the company also finally confirmed the existence of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced.

The update is scheduled to launch tomorrow (March 5) for both Xbox and PlayStation, enabling 60fps in Assassin’s Creed: Unity. There’s no mention of any other improvements, so don’t set your expectations insanely high – it’s just better framerates.

Unity was one of the most interesting titles in the series. It was a technical mess when it launched which led to a lot of angry fans who were rightfully pissed off at the state of the game. And yet over the years various updates helped sort things out, allowing fans to revisit it and find an appreciation for what the game did. These days, it’s actually kind of earned itself a cult status amongst the fans for its fun parkour system, open assassination missions and amazing visuals.

I’ve personally been planng on replaying it, so this is a good chance to hop back in and see how well it has held up over the years.

Ubisoft might be on the verge of collapsing into a black hole at this point, but this trend of going back and updating their older games is one I would love to see other developers adopt.
