It was inevitable: Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5 on April 7, Bethesda has officially confirmed. A new DLC titled Terran Armada will launch alongside it, plus there will be a huge free update for everyone.

A full two and a half years after its PC and Xbox launch, Starfield will land on PS5 at a discounted price of $50/£45 for the base game, which will include all of the updates.

Opt to pay $70/£61, the price the game originally launched for on Xbox and PC and still officially retails at on those platforms, and you’ll get the Shattered Space DLC included, along with the new Terran Armada DLC.

Currently, it’s unclear if the base price of Starfield on Xbox and PC will drop to match the PS5 price.

If you want to buy the new DLC separately, it’ll cost $10, which suggests it probably isn’t a huge expansion.

“A new threat has entered the Settled Systems. Believing themselves to be the “true” children of Earth, the Terran Armada is made up of members of the United Colonies and Freestar Collective who vanished during the Colony War. The Terrans are an advanced military force, largely comprised of robotic soldiers,” says the official blog post.

The DLC will include a new companion, a Terran robot called Delta, who is described as “not evil, but definitely not good.”

There will also be a new Incursion featured added to the game, which seems to be a somewhat random event that can pop up anywhere, although you choose to engage or not. “Great loot” is promised for jumping into the action, though. Some will be small skirmishes, others much large, but you’ll be able to turn off non-story related ones via the options menu.

There’s also a bunch of new spaceship parts, a prebuilt outpost in case you can’t be arsed (ME!) and some other bits and pieces.

Finally, on April 7th, there will also be a substantial free update for all players called Free Lanes, which will change how you travel in space and adds a bunch of new stuff. Here’s a quick breakdown of everything included.

  • Revolutionary Space Flight: Cruise Mode enables free-form travel between planets with full ship functionality (crafting, chatting, decorating); dynamic POIs and encounters interrupt for exploration.
  • Deep Customization: X-Tech resource unlocks weapon re-rolls, Tier 4 legendaries (e.g., Saboteur for robot kills, Reckless one-shots), new quality tiers, ship optimization terminals, and upgrade slots.
  • Outpost & Ability Boosts: Shared storage, Database tracker, adorable Milliwhale pet (quest-unlocked), Starborn power upgrades via Quantum Essence, and NG+ gear carryover via Entanglement Device.
  • New Content Wave: Anchorpoint station with quests/vendors; ship stealth modules; Moon Jumper vehicle; 27 buff-granting collectibles; elite crew Muria Siarkiewicz; asteroid luxury base; enemy modifiers; skins and photomode tweaks.
