Asobo has popped up to offer a brief update on Resonance: A Plague Tale Story, a prequel to the existing two A Plague Tale games. It looks like it’s still set to release this year.

Asobo has put out a small devblog update on the game, saying “Now, the release is almost here.”

The game was previously confirmed as a 2026 title, so the wording seems to imply that’s still the plan. Sadly, there’s still no confirmed release date.

“The coming months are critical: our compass is fixed on testing, balancing, and refining the game mechanics to deliver an experience as challenging as it is unforgettable,” says the post. “Final tweaks, last recording sessions, the closing notes of the score, before we offer you a story forged in the depths and mysteries of the Mediterranean Sea.”

This prequel will follow Sophie and takes place around 15 years before she pops up in A Plague Take: Requiem.
